Update from Kay...
Fairly quiet night until around 4:30 then the coughing began .....
he would not eat until I put some plain all natural yogurt in his food - got the pills down with a little string cheese - didn't want to force them - he is wise about putting pills in his food!!
Very quiet in his crate, poor boy just looks really sad but wags his tail at all my dogs -
I'm sure the poor thing is overwhelmed - will sure be glad to see pictures in month when he's all recuperated and a little heavier!
Thank You Heather,..for saving my life! Posted by Hello
I had to hand feed him"pill meatballs" to get him to take his pills here andto eat in generall, but then he would graze, sort of afly by type eating without pausing as if he's had tofight for his food before. At the same time, hedidn't mine my hands in his bowl at all.
He's had a big few days, I am sure he isgrateful to all of you for getting him to safety! Iknow I am

Traveling with Cobol

Cobol is a sweet boy. Yes a bit timid but he did manage
to give me a few little kisses on our road trip from
Mt Vernon, ILL to Belleville, ILL. He stretched out in the
back on the floor of my SUV - comfortable & shady.
He still has his cough, sounds really bad sometimes, but it
only last a few minutes at a time.
Everyone have a safe trip tomorrow & thank you to all
who helped him today - you guys are great. Pat.
Ken and Cobol... Posted by Hello
Truly Amazing,..........
Once we got Cobol to the vet,in preparation for his upcoming transport, we realized how much time we DIDN"T have to get him moved,... Heather was out of town on business until Friday morning, when I talked to her briefly on Thursday morning and she confirmed that Cobol Had to move this weekend, my heart sank,.... there was no way we could fill a 998 mile transport in 36 hours,..... not through GA., TN.,......then we found out he had kennel cough,..... oh no,. now i thought he wouldn't make it for sure,....

BY Thursday night when I got home the emails were there,..... in my mail box,...saying," i can do Chattanooga to Nashville,.... i can do Paducah,KY to West Frankfort, and into ST. Louis, "he can stay with me in ST. Louis!",. "kennel cough, no big deal!"
I couldn't believe it,....i was amazed,.... this last minute, plea in desperation to help Cobol get into foster care,.....was getting all kinds of offers,.....from kind ,caring people, true rescue folks, wanting to help.

One day, I will find the exact right words to express our sincere gratitude for helping one of our English Setters.
Once we commit to a Setter in Need, rest assured that he/she will have a "Safety Net for Life" with Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue.
Thank you all for helping Cobol on to the life he deserves,......

Meet Cobol....

Meet "Cobol", he is a sweet southern gentleman who is very afraid of sudden movements, loud noises,. Guess that tells us a little of his recent past.
But not to worry setterboy, because that is all behind you now,..... you have fallen into the loving arms of Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue.
I know they named you "Mikey" at the shelter, but i have choosen to call you , "Cobol", you are named in the honor of a very special Setter gentleman who just recently went ot he bridge. I will have more on that later!
By now, you are headed to your over night stay with Kay and her Australian Shepherd crew!!! whew. That should be fun! My first foster was a setter/Aussie mix,..... THAT IS ANOTHER STORY....
